1. Does Construction Stop During the Winter?

Of course we can not pour concrete when it is very cold but many aspects of building does continue. Basically work is scheduled to allow exterior work to be done during favorable weather and the interior work done at other times. We do have cold weather in Maine but we have many years of experience in keeping projects on schedule.

2. How much will my new home cost?

Construct budgets are very important to our clients and it is our responsibility to help develop the best information possible. At the concept stage we compare your project to similar projects we have completed for an order of magnitude estimate. As the home is better defined and preliminary drawings are available a more accurate material take-off and labor estimate will be done. When the final drawings and specifications are completed a final material and labor price will be developed using actual material prices, sub-contract process and labor requirements. By providing cost information at each stage of development of your home BBI has found that decisions can be made more reliably and through cooperation and good communications the cost can be manage to everyone's benefit.

3. How can we be sure that a low price does not result in higher maintenance and energy cost in the future?

BBI has developed a detailed check-list to provide clients with considerations for their new home. We believe that the best homes accommodate each generation, from toddler to seniors. A home must be safe, accessible, easy to maintain, inexpensive to operate, and maintain its resale value for many years.

4. What options do you provide for energy efficient and environmentally friendly homes?

We pride ourselves on being an Energy Star Partner and also work closely with LEED, AP, Tom Munroe of CAP Services, to offer various energy options for your new home or renovation. Even if you choose not to certify your home, our building practices include many energy efficient and environmentally friendly standards.

5. Can you educate me on my options for building a Green home? How do I choose what type of certification I would like to pursue?

Our well trained staff and consultants are happy to sit down with you and review the various options for building a Green home. We work with an Energy Star Rater as well as a LEED, AP and can provide various information and tools to assist you in making an educated decision.
